Jason Wolfe, CEO of GiftYa, didn't set out to become an entrepreneur. At 10 years old, his mother - disabled, on welfare and struggling to care for several children - sent him to live at the Milton Hershey School, a boarding school (then called an orphanage) for disadvantaged children, until his graduation at 18. The school was founded by Milton Hershey, the great American chocolate entrepreneur who became Jason's role model.
Following an accident at 24 that required him to undergo two spinal surgeries, Jason found himself living out of his car. He taught himself how to code by using books at the local library and started work on the first online coupon site, which he sold in six years for $23 million. Since then, Jason's company, Wolfe, LLC has become a leader in the online gifting industry, successes include the 2016 sale of GiftCards.com to Blackhawk Networks for $120 million.
"Milton Hershey was my mentor and he gave back to the community the gift of his fortune to create an orphanage," Wolfe explained. "I am building a gift-based company inspired by his legacy." In 2014, Jason was named Milton Hershey School's "Alumnus of the Year."
Over xxxx families have been helped through direct contributions from GiftYa's parent company, Wolfe LLC.
